Doing drugs damages the body, mind, and spirit of the person doing them.  When some people think about getting high the first thing that comes to mind is feeling good.  It never seems to occur to drug users that they are really feeling good about absolutely nothing.  It’s not like they have just fallen in love, or reached professional success, or even doing something fun.  The feeling they get is artificial and the price for that temporary simulation of happiness is often much higher than the drug user can ever imagine.  Not only has the drug user been lied to about what they are getting when they use, but they are also being robbed of real happiness far into their future.

There is no safe amount of time that you can use drugs and not lose more than you have to lose.  Suddenly the value of everything that is truly important plummets and the one thing that is useless and cheap is held above all else.

The effects on a drug user’s body can be seen in a very short amount of time.  People in their 20’s start losing their teeth and they can’t find it in themselves to care.  Teenagers start losing their hair but they hardly notice.  They also don’t notice or don’t care that they have enormous cysts on their faces that become scabbed and infected.  They lose or gain a lot of weight because they can’t eat, or cannot keep track of what they are eating, but nutrition is really not important considering they are knowingly consuming poison on a daily basis.  As drug use goes from once in a while to several times a day, the person using drugs starts to become somewhat aware that when they are not high they are physically limited in ways that you would expect from a much older person.  This may catch their attention long enough for them to realize that they want to get high more often, so they don’t notice their physical decline.  It’s not really that they care that they can’t do the things they used to, it is more that somewhere deep down they are scared of what they are doing to themselves.  Once a drug user has become used to the destroyed state of their bodies it becomes the “new” them.

After their physical health and vibrancy is gone the drug user may notice something they didn’t expect to happen, has happened, and this could be the one thing that they can never get back, even if they did stop using drugs, and were able to somewhat restore their body.  When they decided to take the false sense of happiness from getting high, they gave up their ability to feel a real sense of happiness.  The chemicals in the brain start to become altered and cells die or mutate to the point that the brain becomes unable to register joy, satisfaction, peace, calmness, and love.  No matter what great event takes place in the drug user’s life they will not be able to experience it in the way they may want to.

Immunity to drugs can make getting high a very different experience than it was at first.  The feel good high is replaced with an empty flatness inside.  At this point getting high has taken away any chance of feeling high on drugs and most importantly on life.

Social Anxiety is the fear of being around specific people, large groups of people, or out in public at all. Being away from your comfort zone of home and feeling away from yourself, exposed, unprotected, afraid of others, and at it’s worse times, non existent. Battling with this type of phobia is extremely difficult in the world. You need a job to live, education to learn, and people to be there to help you, but how can you do so in the first place when you are constantly fearful of it all to the point where you may find yourself locking yourself in your house and wanting to never come out?
The first thing that may help you the very most is talking to others. Although it may sound simple, anyone who has ever suffered from this specific type of anxiety will tell you it’s like talking to a brick wall. Most people, although they may attempt, won’t understand you. How can you be afraid of people? It’s not that hard, just walk around outside! Are common remarks you may receive as a response to you opening up and expressing yourself. Finding the right person to open up to will be crucial. A therapist would understand you, but do some research on types of them first, some people aren’t comfortable with going into an office, and may make them feel even more uncomfortable. If there is a strong connection with a friend whom you can trust explicitly. The whole point is finding someone you can open up to and who can help you with everyday life and make you feel secure with who you are and give you the best support. Support will get you through the most difficult of times.
When you find yourself in a place that is fearful and frightening to you, express it. This is where talking to yourself will come in great handy. Sounds a little silly, but we all do it in our heads. We go through lists of things we need to remember, what we plan on doing and how we’re going to do it, so why not add talking ourselves through things? Standing there in a crowd of people, you begin to feel sick, your mussels lighten, your breathing gets heavier, and before you know it, your about to have a full blown panic attack. Take a deep breath and begin to draw within yourself. Close you eyes if you’d like and feel that there is no one else but you. Think about why you suddenly got afraid, what changed in the atmosphere? Remind yourself that you can do this and you are in control.

With deadly flu’s breaking out everywhere you can’t help but to get paranoid. If you don’t have health insurance or money, the idea of catching even a chill will probably terrify you. The news, commercials, and people around you talking about it also don’t make it any better. The first thing any one would say is to get vaccinated. Does anyone know what a vaccine really is and why it may or may not be dangerous?

In a nut shell, a vaccine is the virus impaired in one way or another. Either by weakening the virus with a chemical or by making it inactive to where your body still reads it as a virus but won’t get too sick from it to where you won’t get better. It’s the whole idea of what ever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. Your body downloads the information about the virus and creates immunity to it. If you’ve been vaccinated and you get the virus, your body will remember and fight it off before the bacteria multiplies. Your body does this naturally without vaccines. The problem is getting sick in order for your body to fight it off. The bad news is that there’s always a new strain of the virus that seems to develop every year. No one likes being sick and building their immune system naturally so they take a short cut. That’s where vaccinations come in. Americans take different vaccines every year.

There are always two sides of a story. You will always hear why you should or shouldn’t take pharmaceutical drugs. As with all pharmaceutical drugs there are side effects. Some vaccine side effects include nausea, headaches, and soreness at the injection location, dizziness, diarrhea, serious allergic reaction, fatigue, and the chills (fever). There are severe problems also but the manufacturers say there’s no hard evidence so I guess it’s not worth listing.

The flu shot is an interesting vaccine. We haven’t found a cure for the common cold yet there’s a vaccine for the flu. Why then are we taking a vaccine for it? Is it only to shorten our sick time? Being sick is not a fun event but it is necessary to build our immune system. If we constantly take short cuts then we miss all of the important stuff we were supposed to learn on the way. The best thing to do is to boost your immune system naturally and know how to heal yourself if and when you get sick.

Some ways to strengthen your immune system are to eat well and sleep just as well. Limit your alcohol consumption because it tends to lower your immune system. 10 servings of fruit and veggies a day will help you get all those necessary vitamins to keep you strong through out a cold spell. Drink lots of water so you can cleanse your body of toxins. Exercise to make sure your blood and heart are working properly. Your body is the only thing that cures you. No medicine or shot will do so. There’s medicine to alleviate symptoms. It’s like hitting the mute button. It doesn’t mean the TV isn’t on. You just can’t hear it, it’s still there. Our bodies are built to heal itself. There are herbs and medicines that help boost it but try to stay natural. You will always build a tolerance to drugs and then nothing in the world will be able to help you. Stay natural and stay healthy.

Not having enough potassium will harm your heart. Potassium is an important mineral the promoted healthy cells and a healthy heart. Some eating disorders like bulimia may increase the risk of a potassium deficiency also known as hypokalemia. Diuretics can also cause hypokalemia.

Some symptoms include but are not limited to kidney disease, fatigue, intestinal issues, bloating, constipation, weakness, stomach cramps. Muscle cramps, and abdominal pain. If it’s a case of severe hypokalemia it may even result in heart palpitations and an irregular heart beat. These abnormal rhythms can cost you your life!

People with easting disorders are at a high risk. Overuse of laxatives and diuretics can deplete you of important minerals including magnesium and potassium. The average adult needs anywhere from 4,700-5,100 mgs of Potassium daily. Other than taking it in supplements the best way to get your vitamins is through your food. Your body breaks it down and absorbs it better than if it were in a pill or capsule.

Potassium has been shown to decrease the risk of stroke and Osteoporosis. Those who consume the potassium from vegetables and fruit have shown to reduce the risk of stroke. Potassium rich foods like fruits and vegetables also have a high source in precursors to bicarbonate ions which are buffer acids in the body. If our body does not get enough potassium from our food then it results in taking calcium salts from the bones which causes osteoporosis.  Eating more fruits and vegetables means a healthier body and stronger bones. Taking potassium also lowered the risk of kidney stones. The study showed that it decreases urinary calcium excretion.

Foods rich in Potassium include bananas, Orange juice, tomato juice, raisins and potatoes which have 926 mg. of potassium. Other fruits and vegetables include artichoke, spinach, almonds, molasses, lima beans, acorn squash, sunflower seeds and plums. Mix and match to get a good mix of vitamins and minerals. One thing you may want to try is making chunky soups. Include spinach, squash and beans in the soup to add great flavor and vitamins to your body. You can even juice it to make it even easier. One of my favorite juices is a mix between apples, bananas, and oranges. If you’re really brave throw some spinach in it. It may change the color to a weird green but it’s packed with antioxidants, potassium and vitamins. You can also eat a banana everyday. It can’t get any easier than that! Go get some of those potassium rich foods and stay healthy!
